Final vote totals for Peace and Freedom Party candidates in the November 2006 general election show that hundreds of thousands of Californians chose our candidates for some offices, though (in line with California tradition) relatively few voted a straight ticket.

Elizabeth Cervantes Barron received 212,383 votes for Controller, or about 2.5%, and this exceeded the 2% requirement for keeping the Peace and Freedom Party on the ballot for another four years.

Tom Condit, the nominee for Insurance Commissioner, also exceeded 2% with 187,618 votes, some 2.2% of the total.

For Board of Equalization, about 3.4% of Californian voters picked a Peace and Freedom candidate, with the four district nominees receiving a total of 276,610 votes.

In some smaller districts, the Peace and Freedom Party candidate received as high as 9.8% of the vote. The total number of votes cast for Peace and Freedom candidates for all offices was 1,234,400.

County-by-county results suggest that about 400,000 Californians voted for at least one Peace and Freedom candidate.
