The following statement was issued today by State Chair C. T. Weber.

The Peace and Freedom Party of California joins the world in applauding the decision of the United States Supreme Court in their rejection of the Philadelphia District Attorney's latest attempt to reinstate the death penalty for Mumia Abu-Jamal. The death sentence in this case is unconstitutional. For nearly 30 years Peace and Freedom Party has been a strong advocate for a new trial for Mumia, who had been accused of the murder of a Philadelphia police officer. This campaign has been clouded by the threat of death by the State of Pennsylvania. It took as many years to finally remove that threat. While 30 years is too long for a person, who was convicted with questionable evidence by a racist judge, life in prison without the possibility of parole is not acceptable. Now is the time for us to renew our call to free Mumia Abu-Jamal.

FREE MUMIA!
