The Peace and Freedom Party joins the national call to action demanding the release of the 8 former Black Panthers arrested January 23, 2007 for the 1971 killing of a San Francisco police officer.

The arrest of these fighters for justice illustrates the government's attempt to criminalize innocent people for crimes they did not commit on the basis of their political beliefs.

These activists are being used as an example of the lengths to which the government will go to crush any actions by community organizers, anti-war activists and all peace and justice loving people.

We demand freedom for the San Francisco Eight and for all political prisoners and prisoners of war, and an end to government-sponsored repression against those who wage dissent.

We call on Peace and Freedom Party activists to get involved with local actions to free the San Francisco Eight, and if there is no such local group or network, that Peace and Freedom Party activists initiate one.

We also call upon Peace and Freedom Party activists to write letters to the editor, call in to local radio programs, and take other actions to publicize the plight of the San Francisco Eight and to demand their freedom.
