Kevin Cooper is an African-American man who was wrongly convicted and sentenced to death in 1985 for the murder of a white family in Chino Hills, San Bernardino County. He was the only person accused of this crime, even though evidence shows that the perpetrators were three white men. The DNA evidence used to convict Cooper is highly suspect. Several justices on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights have said that Cooper did not receive a fair trial and is likely innocent.
There are no more appeals available for this case. Kevin Cooper will very likely be executed because the State of California is considering options for renewed implementation of the death penalty. His only chance to live is to be granted clemency by the Governor of California Sign the petition to Governor Brown asking him to grant clemency for Kevin Cooper.
