Peace and Freedom Party Presidential Nominating Convention
August 12-13 in Sacramento; All-Woman Contest is U.S. Political First
SACRAMENTO, Ca. – The Peace and Freedom Party of California is holding its Presidential nominating convention Aug. 12-13 here – and for the first time in U.S. political history a party with more than one declared candidate for its Presidential nomination will have an all-woman contest.
Nominees for President and Vice-President of the United States chosen at this convention will appear on the November, 2016 ballot in California as Peace and Freedom Party, and may appear on other states' ballots with the same or another party designation.
The delegates will be choosing one of the following women as their Presidential candidate:
- Gloria La Riva of the Party for Socialism and Liberation;
- Monica Moorehead of the Workers' World Party;
- Dr. Lynn Kahn, independent
- Dr. Jill Stein of Green Party
The convention will be held at the Hawthorn Suites (321 Bercut Dr) in Sacramento. All formal sessions will be held in the Sutter room. There will be a candidates' forum Friday evening, Aug. 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the same location. The first convention session will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 13, with the Presidential selection process beginning in the afternoon.
